How to deal with the glue line in the edge banding
1. The cutting accuracy of the plate, the edge of the plate must be at a 90° angle with its plane;
2. Whether the pressure of the pressure roller of the edge banding machine is evenly distributed and the size is appropriate, and the pressure direction should be at a 90° angle to the edge of the sheet;
3. Whether the glue roller is intact, whether the hot melt glue is even on it, and whether the amount of glue applied is appropriate;
4. Keep the sealed side board in a place that is clean and less dusty. In the finishing process, avoid dirty things from contacting the glue line.
 
As far as the processing process of edge banding is concerned, the main factors that affect the quality of edge banding are:
1. Equipment
Because the engine of the edge banding machine and the crawler cannot be well matched, the crawler is not stable and wavy in operation, which causes stress between the edge band and the end surface of the plate, and the edge of the seal is not straight, which is unfavorable for the equipment trimming. (The trimming knife included in the equipment itself).
The rubber application roller and the belt conveyor roller do not fit well, and the phenomenon of lack of glue or uneven glue application is very common; the trimming tool and the chamfering tool are often not adjusted properly, not only need to manually trim the edge, but also the quality of the trimming is also difficult. ensure. In short, due to the poor level of equipment debugging, repair and maintenance, the quality problems caused are widespread and lasting.
2. Material
As the base material of wood-based panels, the thickness deviation is generally not up to the standard, most of which are positive tolerances, and often exceed the allowable tolerance range (allowable tolerance range of 0.1 to 0.2); the flatness is also not up to the standard. This makes it difficult to control the distance between the pressure roller and the surface of the track (the thickness of the substrate). Too small a distance can easily cause excessive compression, increased stress, and open glue; too large a distance can not compress the plate, and the edge banding cannot be guaranteed. It is firmly combined with the board end.
3. Machining accuracy
In the machining process, machining errors mainly come from cutting and fine cutting. Due to the system error of the equipment and the processing error of the workers, the end surface of the workpiece cannot reach the level and cannot be kept perpendicular to the adjacent surface. Therefore, the edge band cannot be completely contacted with the end surface of the board when the edge is sealed. After the edge is sealed, there will be a gap or the base material will be exposed. ,Affect the appearance. What’s more, the substrate chipped during processing, which is difficult to hide by sealing the edges.
